The Golden Rule

A trip to Barcelona must include a few visits to the Gaudí masterpieces sprinkled throughout the city. And from this home, you’re just a fifteen-minute taxi ride from the Sagrada Família. However, if your priorities are leaning more towards sun, sea, sand, then it’s about to get even better. Just three minutes from Platja de la Nova Icària beach, and a 2 km sandy stroll to La Barceloneta (passing yet more beaches en route), this apartment is a beach dweller’s paradise. Originally constructed to host athletes in the Olympics of 1992, the building is an interesting shape, somewhere between an oval and an almond. This makes the layout of the home quite unusual and unique. We love the curved living space, with three enormous windows where you can gaze out to the reason why you chose to stay in the area – golden sands and azure seas. The interiors are modern, understated, and neutral, making it ideal for relaxing after lazy days spent by waterside bars in the sunshine. And for a final flourish for water fans, the master bathroom even has a hydromassage system in the shower.

* The walls are fairly thin and the bedrooms are next to each other – light sleepers you have been warned
* The bathrooms have no window ventilation or natural light
* Although the kitchen is well-equipped with appliances, it doesn’t have basic cooking ingredients
* Parking is available, but you’ll need to pay a fee of €20 per day
