On the structure

The traditional settlement of Samonas is a complete neighbourhood located in the village of Samonas, in the district of Apokoronas, at an altitude of 400 m and at a distance of 25 km from Chania.
The village still preserves its picturesque character since it is really very small and has very few inhabitants.

The settlement is built on a hill slope and it has such an orientation that it offers an impressive view from all dwellings. Looking over from the settlement’s location, we get the impression that we could touch the Lefka Ori, or dive into the vast Cretan sea.

All our dwellings are two-storey (maisonettes) with unlimited view to the mountain and the sea. They are exclusively built in stone and wood to match their surroundings. Each is built at a different level due to the ground’s steep slope, with common courtyards as well as independent verandas or balconies and quiet corners.
All dwellings are decorated with many small folklore objects, antiques and hand carved furnitures. All incorporate the same comforts and luxury, although they differ in size and layout.

During night hours, thousands of stars will magnetize your eyes. Musical sounds, vivid colours, captivating scents, pure flavours and the close touch with nature will awaken all your senses and their remembrance will remain unforgettable. Here you will experience unique moments of relaxation and complete tranquillity in an authentically traditional area, without missing any of the comforts of the modern way of living, which we have quietly incorporated in all our dwellings.

One double bedroom new maisonette of 90 m2, in total harmony with the area and the oldest buildings. Has one double bedroom and  may accommodate up to 4 persons. The only one with canted tile roof in the bedroom, located higher than all the other dwellings. It incorporates two indoor verandas with amazing pool, mountain, valley, sea and pool view.

*Fliskouni

Mint The smallest of the species’ plants reaching 20 cm in height. We use the entire plant except for the root, when flowering. It has antibronchial, antiasthmatic, antiarthritis, anti-diarrheal and anaesthetic attributes. It also helps with rheumatism and is often used, due to its intense smell, as a repellent for various insects, fleas and parasites.
